Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-01
Dashed ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of families who use our app. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the Dashed service.
1. What We Collect
We collect only information necessary to operate the service:
- Account information: Email address used for sign-in. Parent/guardian accounts are created directly by adults. Youth accounts (if enabled by the parent) are created and activated only via a parent-initiated invite/sponsor flow.
- Family data: Family name, currency choice, member names (nicknames/display names), task descriptions, expense notes, and balance history.
- Usage data: Anonymous aggregate analytics to improve the product (no personally identifiable information shared with third parties).
2. How We Use Your Data
- To authenticate users and maintain secure sessions.
- To provide the Dashed service (balances, tasks, approvals, notifications).
- To send transactional emails (magic links, invite links) when you initiate them.
- To improve and debug the product using anonymised analytics.
3. Children's Privacy
Dashed is designed for use by families. Youth accounts do not register independently and cannot create a Dashed account on their own. Children and teens join only through a parent/guardian-initiated invite or sponsor flow, and the parent/guardian remains responsible for the family account.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. Parents control all data for their family and can request deletion at any time.
4. Data Storage & Security
All data is stored in a secure, access-controlled database. We use row-level security to ensure family data is isolated — parents see only their family, and children see only their own data within that family. Sessions are encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. We use a limited set of infrastructure providers (including Supabase for database and authentication) under appropriate data processing agreements.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
Family creators can remove members (which deletes their accounts and data), cancel pending invites, delete the family, and then delete their own account from the Parents app under Family → Family deletion. Kids can leave a family and delete their account from Profile. Deletion is permanent. Some information may be retained for legal compliance purposes as required by applicable law.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, port, or delete your personal data. Family creators can delete accounts in-app as described above; you may also contact us for other privacy requests.
8. Contact
For privacy questions or requests, contact us at support@dashed.xyz or security@dashed.xyz. See our Children's Privacy section for youth data practices.
